Samuel Meredith (1741 – February 10, 1817) was an American merchant and statesman from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born in Philadelphia, he attended Doctor Allison's Academy there before engaging in mercantile pursuits. Meredith served in the Revolutionary War as major and lieutenant colonel of the Third Battalion of Associators in 1776, was promoted to brigadier general of Pennsylvania Militia in April 1777 before resigning in 1778.
